Foundations of Healthcare: Nursing & Medication Aide
Overview
The Foundations of Healthcare: Nursing & Medication Aide program is designed for high school students who want to enter the medical field and provide direct care services to clients in their homes. Home Health Aides assist other health care professionals in maintaining and restoring the client to optimum levels of physical and emotional well-being while allowing the client to remain at home. This program will offer students preparation to test for the industry-recognized credentials listed below; students must be at least 18 years of age to sit for the CMA exam.
Students must be 17 years of age by the start of the program and possess a current CNA certification to enroll.
The Health Occupations Division has partnered with Verified Credentials, LLC to track student health clearance records and conduct background checks and drug screens. Failure to submit any of the requested documentation by the designated due date will prevent a student from continuing with the program. Students may not participate in any clinical practicums without being compliant with all health clearance requirements. Some clinical sites have more stringent requirements; students placed at those sites will be expected to meet such requirements. Once a clinical site is identified, if there are additional requirements, students will work with course coordinators to ensure compliance.
